Lovers, Scholars, and shoulders?

I managed to get out for a little sketching before bed time. Standing out side Star Bucks I observed a few people reading and taking notes. I didn't want them to think I was watching them so I occasionally checked my watch as if I was waiting for some one. It was kind of amusing to see these folks so engaged in their studies. Like dolphins, whales, or turtles coming up for air, the scholars come up for caffeine. I sort of turned this session into a shoulder language menuet sort of speak.

A bit later I stopped at a restaurant with only a couple at a table near the window. They where so in love. It was nice to draw this kind of human interaction. I think people need to see this kind of stuff more often.

Daumier

Heres a little study of one of my favorite all time artists, Honore Victorin Daumier
The original entitled, THE CONNOISSEUR, now hangs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the Drawings and Prints gallery.
I was amazed to learn how many various mediums went into this-
Pen & ink, wash, water color, lithographic crayon and gouache over black chalk on wove paper. Few

Grand Central Station

I spent about 3 hours sketching people at Grand Central Station a few rainy days ago. I started with the people standing on line to purchase tickets and then headed for the stairway. I had lots of fun doing these and hope to go back again during rush hour. How ever next time I think I'm gonna walk home. For the 2 or 3 people that visit my blog enjoy!

NOTE to self: Most people where holding some sort of electronic device weather it be a cell phone or black berry etc. And it wasn't all business. Many people where talking to family members. One lady was telling her son the 3 basic steps to make ravioli. A gentleman was suggesting to his friend that she should make a contract with her son that when he turns 18 that he needed to sign it and to abide by the rules of the house. "Oh and one more thing, you need to get your self a career." One guy just lost it on line. There was really only 3 or 4 people a head of him and he was so upset. "Ahh come on." "Can you believe this." "Jesus H." Very funny to see this little man get all bent out of shape looking around to see if others could relate to his turmoil.

Latin Family

Stuyvesant Park

Nothing special, just another homeless guy reading the paper in the park. Antonin Dvorak sculpture in the back ground.

Travelers

Now that I'm looking at this closer, I think I should have made the tickets look less like razor blades and more like tickets. Oh well.
