Bird Watchers/Sculptures

A few days ago I noticed a flock of bird watchers huddled at the edge of a hill side in Central Park looking up into the trees. I casually strolled over to take a look. I leaned over towards the woman standing next to me and politely whispered,
"What are we looking at?"
She replied, "A rare bird."
Ohhh a rare bird! How interesting. Gee I thought they where looking at an orangutan.

Composting and other things

This is my friend David's son Griffin AKA Hell Boy. Here he is helping me collect some worms for the composting bin I made out of a plastic bucket. David and I are at war with each other. A tomato war. I'm growing mine up on my roof in my green house. More on that later.
The other shots are just some personal projects/ limited budget/ limited space endeavors on my block and in my apartment. What I'm proud of most is the tree pit I made out of salvaged bricks from around the neighborhood. It took me about 5 hours from start to finish this sunday and in the poring rain might I add. The goal was to create a pit that looked as though it had been on the block for many years and to keep the dogs from peeing on my oak. Probably going to plant several rose shrubs after the former name of my neighborhood "Rose Hill".
Lamp post,,, well I just want to see the ivy take it over. There is plenty of soil at the base with great drainage.
The spheres are a great way to liven up a space and or add a focal point to reinvigorate a dead space. They can be hung almost anywhere and all you need to do is spray it with a water bottle and give it some light. These two are in my bathroom.
Enjoy!!!

David Brown

These are a few sketches I made of my dear friend David Brown about a few weeks before he died. I don't think I have ever established a stronger connection with another human than with David. In addition he has been a mentor in the field of Floral arrangement and all things horticulture. Here he is standing out side one of the shops in the flower district talking to his plumber. After about 15 min he folded the phone into his pocket and told me he just saved about 1,500 dollars.
